- Copy Editing
- Stylistic Editing
(Please see Chapter Two for summary definitions of these different roles).
When I proofread or edit on paper I use conventional symbols or, more frequently, make marginal notes for clients who are not familiar with formal markup.
Increasingly common is onscreen proofreading and editing. I use ‘track changes’ in Word documents, or Adobe Acrobat for PDFs.
I can proofread presentations (e.g., PowerPoint) and add comments in the ‘speaking notes’ section for your review.
I can review the written content of live webpages online and provide editorial comments in a summary report.
Each project is unique in its content, length, tone, style, and intended audience. Reviewing twenty PowerPoint slides containing key bullet points and graphs is very different from a fifty page technical journal. Consequently, I can only quote a rate once I know the scope of the work involved.
Please contact me and introduce yourself and your project. I will provide you with a time estimate and quote at the earliest opportunity.
